Transport Yourself To The Tropics: Tropical Scrapbook Borders And DIY Card Featuring The Mandevilla Flower Punch

The tropical regions of our planet are home to an enormous variety of plants, including boundless bouquets of fragrant, fully bloomed florals. Bromeliad. Amaryllis. Anthurium. Orchid. Hibiscus. Bird-of-paradise. Canna. Mandevilla. The list goes on and on and on like good vibes on a summer’s day! And these warm-weather florals — whether you see them on an island destination or are growing them within your own home — will surely transport you to a tropical state of mind worth treasuring. Breathe a bit of fresh air, splash on some sweet sunshine and bask in beachy hues with these tropical scrapbook borders and DIY card featuring the Mandevilla Flower Punch. (No passport required!)

To create these borders and card you will need:

Loving Right Now Border

Tropic and floral-themed scrapbook border with a title sticker.

Step 1: Using the 12-inch Trimmer and Wave Blade, cut a piece of aqua diamond bursts designer paper to measure 12” x 2-1/4”.

Step 2: Cut a piece of mustard small florals tonal paper to measure 12” x 2”. Adhere to the border.

Step 3: Cut two pieces of dark green dotted triangles tonal paper to measure 12” x 1/4”. Adhere along the top and bottom edges of the mustard paper.

Step 4: Using the Mandevilla Flower Punch, punch six flowers from navy tick marks tonal paper. Adhere the outer portions of the flowers to the border.

Step 5: Using the Mandevilla Flower Punch, punch six flowers from tangerine geometric wave designer paper. Adhere the middle pieces of the flowers inside of the previous navy pieces.

Step 6: Adhere embellishment and gems to the border.

Mandevilla Squares Border

Tropic-themed scrapbook border with layered squares as the background behind flower embellishments.

Step 1: Cut a piece of tangerine geometric weave designer paper to measure 12” x 3”. Use this as the base of the border.

Step 2: Using the 12-inch Trimmer and the Wave Blade, cut a piece of navy tick marks tonal paper to measure 12” x 2-3/4”. Adhere to the border.

Step 3: Use a ruler and pencil to draw a line in the center of the navy pape. Mark at the half way point (6”). 

Step 4: Using the Square Punch, punch five squares from the mint dotted designer paper. Adhere squares along the pencil line, starting from the middle 6” mark. Use a scissors to cut any excess.

Step 5: Using the Square Punch, punch five squares from the aqua diamond bursts designer paper.

Step 6: Use a ruler and pencil to draw the center line again over the top of the dotted paper. Use this line to adhere the aqua squares.

Step 7: Punch flowers using the Mandevilla Flower Punch from tangerine geometric weave designer paper. Adhere to the middle of the aqua squares. Adhere the flower middles using Foam Squares.

Step 8: Adhere gems to the border.

Hello Card

Tropic-themed greeting card with floral embellishments.

Step 1: Use a blank card from the Blank Card Kit for the base.

Step 2: Cut a piece from navy tick marks tonal paper to measure 5-1/4” x 4”. Adhere to the card.

Step 3: Cut a piece of mustard sun tiles designer paper to measure 5” x 3-3/4”. Adhere to the card.

Step 4: Cut a piece of dotted sunrise-sunset designer paper to measure 4-1/2” x 1”. Gently fold the tips of one end together, then cut by angling your scissors to create the “banner”. Adhere to the card.

Step 5: Using the Mandevilla Flower Punch, punch several flowers from a variety of papers. Adhere to the card, adding Foam Squares to the middle flower pieces.

Step 6: Adhere letter stickers to create a sentiment.

Step 7: Add sticker and gems.

  1. I watch C. M. instructional videos a lot because if there is a group of scrapbookers I am unaware of it. I like the videos because if I miss something I can go back and see it again.
