Go Nuts For Notes Of Noel With These Christmas Scrapbook Borders And DIY Card

While tinsel is terrific and stockings are super, today we’re going nuts over nutcrackers! During the Christmas season, a beautifully painted and crafted nutcracker might be a familiar sight on mantelpieces or bookshelves… not to mention the classic and beloved “The Nutcracker” ballet! (Did you know nutcrackers are a symbol of good luck to your family and protection of your home?!) So cue the classical music — this blog post, in nutshell, is all about Christmas scrapbook borders and a DIY card.

To create this card and border you will need:

Happy Holidays Border

Step 1: Cut a 12” x 3” strip with candy cane stripes paper for the base. Cut a 12” x 2-5/8” strip with Blue Solid Cardstock and adhere on the base.

Step 2: Cut a 12” x 2-3/8” strip with word art paper and adhere on the border. Cut two 1-5/8” x 2-3/8” pieces and one 2-1/4” x 2-3/8” piece with gold ornaments paper. Adhere on the border as shown.

Step 3: Using the Nutcracker Border Punch, punch one border with Tangerine Solid Cardstock and one with Brown Solid Cardstock. Trim apart, keeping six shapes. Punch borders with White, Black, Dark Green, Blue and Red Solid Cardstocks. Using Micro-Tip Scissors, trim out the clothing, using the photo as a guide. Adhere on the nutcracker base shapes. Cut small shapes with Black and Canary Solid Cardstocks for the mustaches and details. Adhere behind the base shapes. Adhere all on the border as shown.

Step 4: Mount the “Happy Holidays” sticker using Foam Squares for added dimension.

Step 1: Cut a 3” x 12” strip with plaid accessory paper for the base. Cut a 2” x 12” strip with red plaid tonal paper and adhere on the base. Cut a 1-3/4” x 12” strip with gold ornaments paper and mount on top.

Step 2: Align the left edge of word art paper at the left black mark on the Nutcracker Border Punch; punch once. Align the right edge at the right black mark on the border punch; punch, then slide the paper to the right until the punched shape covers the imprint on the right arm of the punch. Punch again; repeat and punch a third time. Remove the paper from the punch and trim off the unpunched edge from the rest of the paper at 1-1/2”. Adhere the punched border on the border.

Step 3: Punch borders with red plaid tonal paper and Blue and Black Solid Cardstocks. Using Micro-Tip Scissors, trim out the clothing, using the photo as a guide. Adhere on the nutcracker base shapes.

Step 4: Cut a 1-5/16” x 2-3/16” piece with Blue Solid Cardstock and adhere on the rectangle shape. Adhere the title sticker using Foam Squares for added dimension.

Step 1: Create the card base. Cut an 8-1/2” x 5-1/2” piece with White Solid Cardstock. Using the 12-inch Trimmer and the Scoring Blade, score along the long edge at 4-1/4” and fold in half.

Step 2: Cut a 5-1/4” x 4” piece with red plaid tonal paper and adhere it on the front of the card. Cut a 5” x 3-3/4” piece with word art paper and mount it on top.

Step 3: Align red plaid tonal paper on the Nutcracker Border Punch at the black line on the left (top of head). Punch once, then remove paper. Trim off at 1-1/2” and then trim the bottom so the piece is 3-3/4” tall. Adhere to the middle of the card. Punch nutcracker shapes with Brown, Tangerine, White and Navy Solid Cardstocks. Trim and adhere pieces to decorate the nutcracker, using the photo as a guide. Repeat with other plaid papers, trimming them to 3-1/4” tall. Adhere on either side of the middle nutcracker.

Step 4: Cut a 5” x 1/4″ strip with candy cane stripes paper and adhere along the bottom. Add a sticker using Foam Squares for added dimension.
