Project Ideas: Music Notes Borders

If you haven’t yet experienced just how quickly and easily a fun page border can dress up a scrapbook page in no time flat, here’s your chance for discovery. Create one at a time, or sit down for a border marathon afternoon. Either way, you’re only minutes away from a totally adorable strip of awesomeness that will turn a blank page into a little masterpiece.

These borders were created using bright, fun cardstock colors and the new Music Notes Border Maker Cartridge. Here’s how to create each of them:

Yellow & Black Filmstrip Border (Top left)

You’ll need:

Step 1: Using Border Maker with Music Notes Cartridge, punch along entire edge of yellow cardstock paper, then cut punched edge away to measure 7/8″ x 12″.

Step 3: Cut a piece of black cardstock to measure 12″ x 1″, then adhere yellow punched strip to center of black strip.

Step 4: Using Border Maker with Film Strip Cartridge, punch along entire edge of black cardstock paper, then cut punched edge away to measure 1-1/4″ x 12″.

Step 5: Using scissors, cut film strip border in half the long way. Using Tape Runner, adhere each half of film strip border along edges of layered black & yellow strips as shown.

Celebration Circles Border (Center left)

You’ll need:

Step 1: Cut a piece of the tan cardstock to measure 2-1/4” x 12”. Use this as the base of the border.

Step 2: Cut a strip of white cardstock to measure 2” x 12”. Adhere to the top of the tan cardstock.

Step 3: Cut a strip of orange cardstock to measure 1-1/2” x 12”. Adhere to the top of the white cardstock.

Step 4: Using the Shape Maker, punch five circles from each of the following cardstocks: purple, yellow, green, blue, and bright pink. Adhere to the top of the border so that the edges of the circles touch.

Step 5: Using the Blossom Place N Punch, punch five flowers from each of the following cardstocks: purple, yellow, green, blue and bright pink.  Adhere to the centers of the circles using foam squares.

Step 6: Using the previously punched music note pieces, adhere six to the centers of each flower using the mini tape runner.

Step 7: Using the star border maker cartridge, punch once from each of the following cardstocks: purple, yellow, green, blue and bright pink.  Adhere one star to the center of each flower using foam squares.

NOTE: This border can either be used vertically or horizontally.

Colorful Notes Border (Bottom left)

You’ll need:

Step 1: Using Border Maker with music notes border maker cartridge, punch along entire edge of 12″ piece of yellow cardstock. Trim to 1-1/4” wide.  Set the punched music note pieces aside for a future border.

Step 2: Cut small strips measuring 1″ square from the purple, blue, green and orange cardstock. Adhere behind the border using the mini tape runner, so that the music notes are different colors on front of border.

Step 3: Cut a strip of orange cardstock to measure 1-3/4” x 12”, then adhere colorful strip to the front.

Step 4: Cut a strip of green cardstock to measure 12” x 2”, then adhere to the back of the strip along the bottom edge.

Step 5: Cut a strip of purple cardstock to measure 12” x 2-1/4”. Adhere along the top edge of the border.

Stars ‘n Notes Border (Far right)

You’ll need:

Step 1: Cut a strip of yellow cardstock to measure 12” x 2”.

Step 2: Using Border Maker with Music Notes Cartridge, punch along the entire edge of black cardstock.

Step 3: Cut a strip of white cardstock to measure 12” x 1”. Adhere behind black music notes strip using the mini tape runner.  Cut into 2” sections. NOTE: This will yield enough of these chunks to create 2 borders.

Step 4: Using the Shape Maker with square cartridge, punch 3 squares from red cardstock. Adhere to yellow cardstock so the squares are angled, with their points touching.

Step 5: Adhere the sections of the music notes border to the center of each triangle/square using foam squares.

Step 6: Using the Star Place N Punch, punch four stars from black cardstock. Adhere where the points of the triangles meet, and on top and bottom points using foam squares.

Step 7: Cut two strips of red cardstock to measure 2” x ¾”. Adhere to top and bottom of the border.

Step 8: Cut two strips of white cardstock to measure 2” x ½”. Adhere to the centers of red strips.

Step 9: Use black pen to draw “stitches” along the edge of the white cardstock. (optional)

Happy border making! :)
