It’s finally here… THIS WEEKEND we celebrate National Scrapbook Day!!! It’s obviously kind of a big deal for us because, in our opinion (and hopefully yours), it’s the best day of the year and is an awesome reason to celebrate! We know there will be lots of weekend events and retreats, cropping with friends or scrapbooking away in the quiet solitude of your own craft cave. Need a fun project to create to celebrate the big day? Check out this scrapbook layout made by Marja from CM Home Office Canada and try creating them yourself! (Hint: If you’ve never seen the exclusive products that are used in this layout, make sure you check out the Ingredients section to see how YOU can get them!)
When I created this layout, I was initially planning on using specific photos that I wanted to cut down to 3″ x 4″, so I planned a little cluster of those on the right page and I thought I would put a larger photo on the left side as my main focal point with a title. Once I started playing with the papers and patterns, I decided that it would be so fun to use some small 2″ x 2″ photos I’ve got with one 4″ x 6″ as the focal point. So, I used the 3″ x 4″ mats I had made and kept them to keep a frame and provide space to journal. It was a fun way of bringing together photos that aren’t all from the same event, but have many of the same people in them.

Step 1: Take the daisy patterned paper and cut it to measure 3″ x 12″. Cut the Blue Cardstock to measure 3″ x 12″. Take two pieces of White Cardstock and cut to measure 12″ x 1″. Use the 12-inch Trimmer with the 12-inch Trimmer Wave Blade and cut one 12″ edge of each of the strips with the wave pattern.
Step 2: Using cardstock or pages as your base, adhere the 9″ x 12″ remaining Blue Cardstock to the right side of page 1 and the remaining 9″ x 12″ daisy patterned paper to the right side of page 2.
Step 3: Adhere one of the white strips of cardstock with the wave pattern out along the edge of the 3″ piece of daisy patterned paper and adhere it to the left side of page 1. Take the second white strip of White Cardstock with the wave pattern out along the edge of the 3″ Blue Cardstock and adhere to the left side of page 2.
Step 4: For the yellow hexagon pattern, simply cut the paper at 8″ x 11″ and adhere that near the bottom of the layout. Cut one strip of White Cardstock to measure 3″ x 12″ and adhere it vertically near the right side of page 1.
Step 5: Create one photo mat out of Dark Green Cardstock that measures 4-1/2″ x 6-1/2″ and adhere as shown on the layout on page 1.
Step 6: Create five photo mats out of White Cardstock that measure 3″ x 4″ and adhere as shown on the layout on page 2.
Step 7: Create a cluster of embellishments (including one of the title tags) and adhere it to the top right corner of your focal photo on page 1. Use some additional little embellishments on the bottom right corner of your photo on page 2 as shown on the layout. Journal as desired.
