Celebrate CM’s Birthday Week with this CM-themed Scrapbook Layout

It’s our fifth birthday! We could go on and on about the long journey we’ve been on up until this point but the real story lies with you. All of you are the reason that we do what we do, and you are the ones that truly make CM what it is today. The CM story is different for each and every one of you, which is what makes it so great! In today’s post, blog contributor Krislyn shares her CM story and even throws in instructions for creating a CM scrapbook layout with the new Winterberry collection. Check it out!

P.S. We’re celebrating our birthday all week long with FREE SHIPPING! Head to your CM site for more details!

Krislyn’s CM Story

I signed up to be a Creative Memories Consultant 25 years ago after seeing the albums displayed at a craft fair. I simply wanted to capture all of my baby Andie’s milestones and record my family’s adventures in the beautiful albums Creative Memories offered. Little did I know how the company and its mission would impact my life in the days and years ahead.

I was a new mom and my husband and I had agreed that I would stay at home to raise her. We had just moved to a new community and money was tight. I thought I could save a few bucks on the albums by signing up as a consultant and buying them at cost. I got them in my hands and was absolutely obsessed with them! I spent so much time on those first pages, documenting every glorious thing Andie did and all our fun family outings. Naturally, I wanted to share them with people because it was so fun and I knew I was doing something important that would last. But I knew no one in my small town!

That was the just beginning. I gradually met people, and one by one, shared the opportunities that Creative Memories offered to “preserve the past, enrich the present and inspire hope for the future,” as Florence Littauer says in her book, “Making the Blue Plate Special.” I hope those folks have felt blessed to learn about it and create their own albums. I know I have been blessed in countless ways over the years. I have met so many sincerely wonderful new friends in my customers, team members and CM “sisters,” my family has enjoyed the memories lovingly preserved (LOTS of them), I’ve had the absolute best creative and social outlet and earned income that’s allowed me to be available for my family and maintain a flexible schedule. It’s something I truly appreciate.

I honestly can’t think of anything I’d rather be doing. I’m grateful to Caleb and the entire Creative Memories Home Office for all the work they’re doing to build a strong company, produce the best scrapbooking products on the market and provide a profitable and meaningful career opportunity for so many! I’m grateful and I’m still here, a proud Creative Memories Advisor, excited to see what’s next!

Step 1: Use two sheets of Black Cardstock as the base for your layout.

Step 2: Punch one edge of two pieces of white dot patterned paper with the Dazzle Border Punch. Trim each piece to measure 7-1/8″ x 12″, leaving three scallops. Adhere each piece to the layout, as shown.

Step 3: Cut two 1″ x 12″ strips of stripe patterned paper. Adhere them along the bottom edges of the punched pieces, as shown. Add a striped border sticker just below these strips.

Step 4: Punch a border with the Dazzle Border Punch and dark blue patterned paper. Trim it to measure 3-3/16″ x 12″ and punch the other side. Punch another border with the Dazzle Border Punch and light blue swirl patterned paper. Trim it to measure 3″ x 12″ and punch the other side. Layer the light blue border swirl patterned border over the dark blue patterned border and adhere it to the page. Punch five shapes from a dark blue mat with the Embossed Shutter Punch. Adhere them to the border using Foam Squares.

Step 5: Mat a 6″ x 4″ photo with a 6-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ mat. Crop two photos to measure 4″ x 5-1/2″ and mat them with 6-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ mats, trimming 1/2″ from the length of each mat. Adhere these photos, along with one 6″ x 4″ and two 5-1/2″ x 4″ photos, to the layout, as shown.

Step 6: Add a title with White Sans Serif ABC/123 Stickers. Add additional stickers and journal as desired.

  1. Beautiful layout! I really love the black background. Krislyn, I have enjoyed your articles and layouts over the years. I started using CM products in 1998. And I’m so glad the quality and creativity of the company continues! Thank you for being part of it, and for sharing your amazing talents.
