Beam Bright Ideas With These Summer Scrapbook Layouts

When not inside crafting, many scrappers can be found outside, soaking up the summer sun and making wonderful outdoor memories (and wearing sunscreen, of course!). And when you eventually head back inside and want to commemorate these fun-in-the-sun, radiating memories, then the Sunny Days Journal Template is your go-to sol-mate! Pair it with the Gold Metallic Dual-Tip Pen, and you’re in for many golden hours of doodling delights! See for yourself with blog contributor Krislyn Mattei’s summer scrapbook layouts!

Krislyn’s Inspiration

The Sunny Days Journal Template and Gold Metallic Dual-Tip Pen is a match made in heaven! I couldn’t wait to try out some ideas for these golden radiating rays. I love how the lines add joy and energy to my layouts! Check them out and see if you agree.

To create these layouts you’ll need:

Hello, Sunshine Layout

Step 1: Use a piece of White Solid Cardstock as the base for this layout. Lay the Sunny Days Journal Template over the cardstock and trace all the lines using the bold tip of the Gold Metallic Dual-Tip Pen.

Step 2: Cut a frame from a piece of bold leafy Boho Escape designer paper. Using the 12-inch Trimmer, cut the inside from the paper, leaving a 1/2″ margin all around. Cut a frame from a piece of salmon pink weave Boho Escape designer paper with a 5/8″ margin all around. Adhere the salmon pink weave frame and then the bold leafy frame to the layout.

Step 3: Using the outside of the medium Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern and the Green Blade, cut a circle from bold leafy paper. Using the outside of the small Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern and the Green Blade, cut a circle from salmon pink weave paper. Using the Red Blade, crop a photo. Place the photo on the salmon pink weave and then bold leafy circles and mount on the layout.

Step 4: Cut a 10-3/4″ x 1-5/8″ strip of salmon pink weave paper. Cut a 10-3/4″ x 2-1/8″ strip of mustard yellow pyramids Boho Escape designer paper. Punch both sides with the Diamond Arches Border Punch. Adhere to the salmon pink weave strip. Cut a 10-3/4″ x 3/4″ strip of dark green dotted diamonds Boho Escape designer paper and adhere on top of the border. Add a border sticker. Mount the border on the layout as shown.

Step 5: Add embellishments and stickers, popping some up with Foam Squares for added dimension.

Step 6: Journal on some of the rays with a Dual-Tip Pen as desired.

All Together Layout

Step 1: Use a piece of bold florals Art Nouveau designer paper as the base for this layout.

Step 2: Cut a piece of mustard yellow florals Art Nouveau designer paper to 11-1/4″ x 11-1/4″. (Tip: To save paper, cut out the inside of this piece, as only the outer edges will show.) Cut a piece of beige scallops Art Nouveau designer paper to 10-3/4″ x 10-3/4″ and mount on top. Adhere both to the layout at an angle as shown.

Step 3: Cut four 5-1/4″ x 5-1/4″ pieces of Dark Green Solid Cardstock. Position one section of the Sunny Days Journal Template over each square and trace the lines using the Gold Metallic Dual-Tip Pen.

Step 4: Using the outside of the medium Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern and the Blue Blade, cut a circle with bold florals paper. Cut the circle into four equal pieces. Adhere one piece to each of the dark green cardstock squares and trim off the excess, as shown. (Note: While you could instead lay the template over a full sheet of cardstock, trace all the lines, add a circle shape and then cut into four squares, the method I’ve used here will give you the most accurate result.) Mount all squares on the layout as shown.

Step 5: Cut two 4″ x 5-3/4″ pieces of mustard yellow florals paper. Crop two photos to 3-3/4″ x 5-1/2″ and mount on top. Adhere to the layout.

Step 6: Add stickers and embellishments, popping some up with Foam Squares for added dimension.
