This Earth Day, we’re shining a spotlight on the small, meaningful ways Creative Memories — and you — can help make our hobby more thoughtful, sustainable and environmentally friendly. Creative Ways to Craft More Consciously

Eco-friendly scrapbooking doesn’t have to be complicated! Here are some easy ways to get started:

• Use your scraps. Bits of paper left over from trimming, “punch poop” and border offcuts can be layered, pieced together or turned into decorative accents.
• Get creative with packaging. That clear plastic wrap around your paper packs? It can be repurposed as a layering element or shaker window on a layout.
• Stretch your supplies. Instead of trimming a full mat for every photo, try photo corners or a peek-a-boo frame technique that lets you reuse the center piece for another element.
• Organize for reuse. Sort and store your scraps by color or size so they’re easy to grab and use on future projects. You’ll be surprised how often they come in handy.

Even just one layout made from scraps keeps paper out of the trash and puts your creativity to the test — and this year’s Earth Day challenge lets you do just that. 

Join the 2025 Earth Day “Scraps 2 Stories Challenge”

This Earth Day, we’re challenging you to think outside the box and put those leftover scraps to good use! The Scraps 2 Stories Challenge is all about getting creative with the scraps you’ve collected and turning them into layouts that tell a story. No new cuts (unless you want to!) — use what you already have on hand! It’s all about giving those bits and pieces their chance to shine.

How to Participate:

1. Create a layout using as many scraps as you can! Dig around your stash for strips of cardstock and designer papers, punched shapes (and punch poop!) — whatever you can find is fair game!
2. Take a photo of your masterpiece!
3. Post the photo in this group using the hashtag “#Scraps2Stories” by Sunday, April 27, at 11:59pm CT (AU: Monday, 28 April, 2:59pm AET).

Prizes:
We’ll randomly select 3 participants to win an Earth Day Prize Pack!
