Academically Accomplished: Graduation Scrapbook Layout

The first chords of the iconic “Pomp and Circumstance” swell through the air. Tissues are being handed out to wipe happy, emotional tears. Family members get their cameras and smartphones ready to capture this celebration. And then here come the graduates, proudly marching forward to get their well-deserved diplomas. Years of studying, homework and tests, theatrical plays, band or choir concerts, heart-pounding games and athletic meets, science fairs and lab reports… it all dwindles down to this magical, milestone moment. (Congrats!) And we’re saying congrats, as a matter of fact, by featuring this graduation scrapbook layout that says exactly that — the Congrats, Grad! collection (which may result in you throwing your own cap into the air too over its A+ awesomeness).

Graduation-themed layout with three photos of graduate friends, journaling and embellishments.

To create this layout you will need:

Step 1: Use a piece of Black Shimmer Solid Cardstock as the base for this layout. Using the fine tips of the Gold and Silver Metallic Dot Tip Pens and a ruler, draw lines around the perimeter, about 1/8” in from the edges.

Step 2: Cut an 11-1/2” x 3-3/4” piece with dotted stripes paper and adhere on the top of the layout, about 1/4″ from the top edge. Cut an 11-1/2” x 3-3/4” piece with canary yellow linework illustrations of tassels and graduation caps paper and adhere about 1/4″ from the bottom of the layout. Cut an 11-1/2” x 4” piece with confetti paper and adhere to the middle of the layout.

Step 3: Create the border. Cut a 5-1/2” x 12” piece with Black Shimmer Solid Cardstock. Cut a 5-1/4” x 12” piece with White Solid Cardstock and adhere on top. Cut four 1” x 11” strips with Black Shimmer Solid Cardstock. Adhere at regular intervals on the white piece, cutting apart at either 1-1/4” or 3/4” from the top and placing number embellishments in the gaps as shown. Using the dot tips of the Silver and Gold Dot Tip Pens, dot between strips. Adhere the border about 1/2” from the right edge of the layout.

Step 4: Cut a 4-1/4” x 6-1/4” mat with Canary Solid Cardstock. Mount a 4” x 6” photo on top and adhere to the border. Cut a 4” x 5-1/4” mat with Canary Solid Cardstock. Mount a 3-3/4” x 5” photo on top and adhere to the layout. Cut a 5-1/4” x 4” mat with Black Shimmer Solid Cardstock. Mount a 5” x 3-3/4” photo on top and adhere to the layout.

Step 5: Add embellishments. Using the ruler and the fine tip of the Silver Dot Tip Pen, draw journal lines at the bottom of the layout. Journal with the Black Dual-Tip Pen.

What do you think of the bold designs of this graduate scrapbook layout? Does it get an A+?

  1. I love the layout. Quite elegant. One Chang I would make is the title. I started reading down instead of across. Maybe more space between each row would prevent that. Os just do it vertically.

    1. You can always adapt the layout to your liking when you chose to use it. This is a share of how this person created. I have always told my customers. There are no mistakes in scrapbooking. It is your creation and how you like it. Enjoy creating yours.
